A Wedding Event

Last week I was treated to not only a vacation, but also my little sisters wedding! The kids and I were able to fly out to Utah for Allyn's and Jillee's nuptials, and also spend an entire week with my family before heading home to Michigan. It was the first time I've been back to Utah that I didn't feel like I was traveling "home". I think it's finally sinking in that Michigan is now that word for me, and although I cherished all the time I had with my family, it was also good to be back with Kevin in the mid-west. I still miss seeing the snow-capped mountains (they were breathtaking as I drove through the canyon), but the beauty of Lake Michigan is a strong rival.

Kevin had to stay behind due to work, and in doing so he missed Kyler's 11th birthday, Allyn & Jillee's wedding, our 12th wedding anniversary, and Easter. Talk about a lot of events in a small span of time. We tried to make up for it, a least a little bit, once we landed in Chicago. We were able to spend a day at Brookfield Zoo before driving back around the Lake Michigan bend on our way home.

Wedding festivities began the afternoon before the big day for a "girls-only" bridal shower luncheon. This is a picture of me and my littlest sister, Kelcee

Jordan & Grandpa spent the morning of the wedding working out with the wii while my mom and I tried to decorate and prepare the wedding venue.

After I got his attention long enough to come sit down by me, the poor kid was tuckered out and instantly fell asleep! He snored through the rest of the ceremony.

A couple weeks ago my family was able to meet up in Florida and head to Disneyworld. We had a blast together. My kids got to hang out with their cousins, I got to spend time with my parents and siblings, and we all got to spend some much-needed time away. I've come to realize I depend on those weeks, days, or even afternoons where my family can get away for a while and spend quality time together. Living so far away from my parents makes these vacations even more memorable. I've come to treasure them, and look forward to the next adventure we go on. The memories we have made are priceless in my eyes.

Better late than never is a good motto to live by, so I am finally getting around to posting pictures from Jordan's 7th Birthday Party. Jordan's celebrations lasted an entire week all of which started at Chuck-e-Cheese where he was able to party with 6 other friends "Chucke" style. A couple days later we celebrated at home with our family, a few presents, and the standard must-have cake. Jordan was able to go to Walmart and pick out a bike with some of his birthday money and he found a nice orange one that is bound to get a lot of use this springtime. He also got a new Webkinz, a game for the wii, and the Madagascar DVD. It was fun to spoil him for the day, and have the chance to reflect on the past 7 years of his life. That weekend I was able to take the boys to Grand Rapids and check out this years butterfly exhibits at Meijer Gardens. All the kids love this annual festivity, and this years display was outstanding. I'm hoping to take them back a few more times before the butterflies are gone for the springtime. It was a great week for Jordan. He's already got the countdown going for next years "Great to be 8" celebrations. I think I better start preparing now. Happy birthday buddy!!
